Review of Underestimated by Jettie Woodruff

In honor of our upcoming blog tour for Underestimated Too by Jettie Woodruff, we are sharing our review for where it all started...

Synopsis: Morgan starts her life in a bad situation, she doesn't really know what she wants out of life. She's never had anyone to look up to, or help guide her in the right direction. She had it rough, and never dreamed that it could get worse, however she finds that it can, and does.

She learns what real hell is when she meets the husband that she doesn't want to marry, but isn't given a choice. Can she escape? She can, and does only to wake up and find herself right back at square one.

Warning! This is not your everyday fall in love romance. This book contains disturbing situations, strong language, graphic, sexual content, some forced, some not. If it's your happily ever after love story that you are looking for, you should probably move on. If you are up for the ride, stick around and it may just turn into a love story after all.

5 Smoking Hot Stars!

Review:
Okay, so I will go ahead and put this out there that you do need to take heed of the warning that is provided. This is definitely not a happily ever after similar to Cinderella or even Christian and Ana from Fifty Shades of Grey. This is the story of one very messed up man and the woman that he absolutely breaks and destroys...and then brings back to life. I do not write this review lightly, and I am still not sure if I am comfortable with how much I wanted Morgan and Drew to end up back together, but I think that that is the success of the write that she left me so conflicted. Anyone else remember Tony Rawlings from the Consequences series? I almost think that Drew is worse - no decades old family vendetta and psycho crazy lady to cheer him on. Nope...his level of f***** up-ness is all on him.

So, we begin with Morgan running. Not out for her morning job, but running for her life, it seems. We meet her as she is re-creating her life as Riley Murphy. She has moved to a coastal town in Maine and begins to slowly rebuild her life, getting a job, making new friends, and slowly learning how to trust someone enough again to love and be intimate. This is not without the setbacks, of course, as some of the other reviews have mentioned. She finds that she can really only enjoy sex now if it is rough or if Dawson, her boyfriend, talks dirty to her, among other things. Dawson is the local sheriff and an all around good, missionary style, guy. As time goes by, Riley begins to get more comfortable, and she even takes work related trips back to the land of her nightmares - Las Vegas. This is where all interludes come to an end, however. Riley is spotted by someone from her past that knows who she really is. Suddenly, Riley is running again, but she doesn't get away fast enough.

When Morgan wakes up in the hospital, she no longer remembers herself as Riley. She doesn't remember Dawson, her job and life in Maine, or even her life as Morgan married to Drew. She basically gets to re-create her marriage to Drew. I think that this is where my dislike for Drew began to crumble. We had seen flashbacks of him when Morgan was in Maine, and it was enough to truly sicken me and make me hate him. I was truly anxious every time she got on the plane to go to Las Vegas, and now, she is right in his clutches. Morgan slowly breaks through Drew's seemingly impenetrable coldness and hatred, and she seems to make him fall in love with her - which he really should have already been, as her husband, right? Morgan slowly begins to hear things or notice things that seem out of place. Then, her memory comes back and she begins to recognize the danger that she is in. Drew is no longer the same person, however.

Morgan and Drew slowly begin to piece together how they feel about one another, and Drew seems to give Morgan the space to do this. She also feels quite torn about her feelings for Dawson, though, so she makes a move back to Maine to try to figure her life out. Life throws her  a curve ball, though, and Morgan ends up being pregnant. Due to her being unable to truly make a choice between Drew and Dawson, she does not know who the father is, so she basically spends the next nine months going back and forth between the two, although, at times, it seems very clear who she loves. Check this book out and find out who Morgan ends up with, and decide for yourself which team you're on - Team Drew or Team Dawson!
