I was born and raised in Kansas City, MO where I grew up with four older brothers. I now reside in Overland Park, Kansas. I'd always loved to write as a child. My teachers would call home not because I was in trouble but because I had a creative imagination and they wanted my parents to know about the crazy stories I was writing. I've always been a hard worker. I started working with my family's company when I was 15 and still haven't stopped. I am a wife, mother of two, hold down a full time job and am now trying to be a indie author. I have a passion for reading and before I started writing I could be found with a Kindle in my hand morning, noon and night. I'm a picky reader so it's hard to please me but I feel like I have a keen eye for a good book. I hope you all will join me on my new journey as I release my first book Fearless Love. It can be very scary but with my passion for the written word I hope it will be well worth it.

Release/Reveiw: Hurricane and Handcuffs by Jodi Redford

    BT H&H Banner.jpg

Synopsis:

Gabrielle Scott is fed up with helping her playboy boss seduce and woo his countless bimbettes courtesy of her culinary masterpieces. Yeah, the pay is good, and you can’t beat the luxurious digs she’s treated to as his resident personal chef. But she can’t afford the frustration of living under the same roof with the one man who drives her crazy in every possible way. The damnable truth? She’s in love with the irredeemable bastard, and the only way she’ll get over him is to get naked under him. The plan? Attend Jax’s annual Mardi Gras ball incognito and entice him into a hot night of sin—right before handing in her resignation.

Jaxon Noble always gets what he wants. Especially when it comes to the opposite sex. So when Gabbi shows up at his party in an eye-popping costume and outrageously flirts with him it’s a foregone conclusion that she’ll finally be his. About damn time the stubborn woman came to her senses. He’s more than happy to go along with her game, and the combustible heat they generate together proves it was well worth the wait to have her. But when morning comes and Gabrielle calmly announces she’s quitting, Jax is faced with the sobering fact that perhaps money can’t buy everything. Or more to the point—the only person who’s ever meant anything to him.

For someone who’s used to winning at all costs, losing Gabbi isn’t an option. And Jax will pull out every sweet and sexy trick to convince her to take a chance on a forever with him. Even if it means handcuffing her to his bed.

Warning: This book contains a sassy chef, one determined bad boy billionaire, Fur-lined handcuffs and inappropriate consumption of beignets, several sinful drizzles of honey, and enough sizzling chemistry to set off the smoke alarms.

Review:

Hurricane and Handcuffs: A Red Hot Cajun Night Story is exactly right. Jodi Redford took everything that is red hot and made one steamy one night story between two absolutely beautiful people. Gabrielle Scott is a culinary genius working for a super hot bachelor named Jaxon Noble. The story begins with Gabbi in the kitchen ill as any horny female who can only look but not touch the sexy Jax as he struts his new arm candy around the room. Gabbi and Jax have a love hate relationship only because they basically grew up together. Gabbi's mother was the Noble's Nanny/house keeper for many years. Now that Gabbi runs the house she has finally reached the end of her tolerance of watching Jax's playboy lifestyle and decided she deserved her one night to release years of built up sexual tension before she turned in her resignation.

I absolutely love Gabbi. She is your independent, self sufficient, intelligent, natural beauty that was so easy to enjoy reading about. She has spunk and attitude that even Mr. Playboy himself could barely resists.

This one night Cajun love story is centered around a Mardi Gras costume party in the Noble mansion. With all intentions of catching Jax's attention, Gabbi opts for "racy" attire. And boy does she get it in more ways than one. I loved this book, it was short, to the point, full of juice and grit without all the unnecessary dialogue that can usually drain the reader. The book is exactly what the title says, A Red Hot Cajun Night, Five awesome stars.

Excerpt:

Gabbi stepped from the pantry just as Jax strode into the kitchen. They both stared at each other stupidly for a long moment.
Finally Jax broke the awkward silence. “Have you been crying?”
“No.”
He frowned. “Your eyes are puffy.”
“My allergies are acting up.” She slid her gaze over his shoulder. “Where’s Bulimic Barbie? Unconscious on the bed?”
Amusement tipped the corner of Jax’s mouth. “Her name is Whitney, and she’s hardly my type.” He returned her squint with a chuffing laugh. “What? She’s not. I only invited her over because she’s the baby sister of Olivia’s newest boy toy. I’m doing my familial duty by putting in a good word for my cousin.”
She snorted. “The only part I believe in all of that is her being a baby. Freakin’ jailbait.”
He leaned against the corner of the marble-topped island, a broad grin lighting his sun-kissed features. “Someone sounds a little jealous.”
“Me? Of her? If you believe that, then someone’s been smoking crack.”
Her vehement denial only earned a chuckle from Jax. “I’m really going to miss your sassy mouth next month.”
Safe to say not as much as she was going to miss him. Yes, it was utterly ridiculous. She should look forward to having a week-long vacation and a welcome reprieve from the constant parade of women. Instead she dreaded the thought of being all alone in this big house with no one for company.
“You could always come with me, you know.”
She gaped at him, his unexpected offer filling her with a giddy rush of happiness. “You...want me to come to Paris with you?”
“Why not? Might save me from overdoing it on all of the French pastries. Got to watch my figure.” His gaze sparkling, he patted his washboard belly.
It took a moment to tear her focus from the lazy drift of his hand and her tormenting mental musings of the rock-solid six pack beneath his snowy white button-down shirt. Once his words penetrated her brain she veered her attention back to his grinning mug. “You’re inviting me so I’ll cook for you?”
“Well...” His expression grew wary. “Yeah?”
The spark of joy extinguished in her heart. “I can’t believe you!”
“I thought you’d like the idea. You’ve never been to Paris before, and it’s a great opportunity for you to learn some new techniques. My friend at L'EspĂ©rance has an intensive two day course that I think you’d really enjoy.”
Under different circumstances she would. Studying under Michelin star chefs and visiting Parisian farmers markets and cozy sidewalk cafes sounded like every wistful dream she’d longed for. But what Jax was suggesting had nothing to do with romance and everything to do with convenience on his end. He didn’t give a rat’s ass about spending time with her. All he wanted was someone to fix him his damn breakfast every morning. “So in other words, a working vacation for me. Wow, how generous.”
He frowned. “Why are you being so pissy?”
“Oh, I don’t know.” She tossed up her hands. “Maybe because I haven’t had a day off in over a week, and I can’t remember the last time I’ve had an actual vacation.” And you’re breaking my fucking heart. She kept the admission locked inside her even though it was screaming to be released from the prison of her tongue.
“Gabbi, I swear to you that after the party is done with I’ll give you a whole week off.”
“Sure. Whatever.”
He pushed away from the counter and tipped a knuckle underneath her chin, forcing her to meet his eyes. The hypnotic quality of those midnight blue irises reeling her in, she stared hopelessly at him. With his free hand, he tucked a lock of hair behind her ear and brushed her cheek. He smiled. “You have flour all over you.”
“Hazard of the job.” Just one of many. The most dangerous being her standing too close for comfort with the man who made her crave sinful, impossible things like being tied up to that huge king-sized bed upstairs.

Hot Excerpt:

Now that she was alone with Jax the air seemed super charged with an overwhelming awareness that zinged between them. Unable to resist, she peered up at him and caught him staring at her mouth. Her lips automatically tingled at the phantom memory of their kiss. Her pulse revving, she smoothed a hand over her tummy to steady her nerves. His pupils nearly overtaking his irises, Jax tracked the motion of her fingers. Certain she was about to jump out of her skin, she cleared her throat. “What do you think of my costume?”
“You have every man in this room dying to take it off you.”
His response was so unexpected it took her a moment to find her tongue. Here he’d provided the perfect opening to her seduction and she’d almost let it slip between her fingers. Channeling her nonexistent inner vixen, she batted her eyelashes. “Including you?” It didn’t come out as sexy as she’d hoped, and she winced.
His mouth quirked at one corner. “No, I’m completely immune to your charms.”
He was joking, right? Fairly positive that he was, she tried for a bolder approach and tiptoed her fingers up along the buttons of his starched shirt. “How about now?”
A chuckle rumbled from him. “Gabbi, what are you doing?”
Good question. God, did she really suck at flirting? Granted, her skills were pathetically rusty. Assuming they existed in the first place. Frustration welling inside her, she settled her palm against his chest. That’s when she felt the rapid pace of his heartbeat. She lifted her gaze to his, and sucked in a breath at the smoldering heat in his eyes. Coyness abandoning her, she blurted the primary thought tumbling around in her brain. “I want you to kiss me again. Desperately.”
His gaze darkened. Sliding his hand to her elbow, he steered her toward the hallway. Her body buzzing with heady anticipation, she barely registered the crush of people he led her through as they made their way to the kitchen. Although the room was empty he didn’t stop until they reached the back stairway. He pressed her up against the door, slamming it shut with her weight. The next instant his mouth devoured hers in a kiss that left her head spinning. Gasping, she tunneled her fingers through his silky hair, holding on for dear life.
She wouldn’t have thought it possible, but the kiss was a thousand degrees hotter than the one last night. Apparently sobriety made all the difference. Which was rather ironic, considering how the drugging intoxication of Jax’s kisses was far more potent than any alcohol in existence. He slicked his tongue over hers, coaxing a whimper from her. Splaying his palms on her ass, he squeezed each cheek and hiked her tighter to him. She went willingly, desperate mewls pouring from her as she sucked on his tongue.
He tore his mouth from hers, his breaths ragged. “I’m crushing your feathers.”
It took her a second to realize that wasn’t some kinky dirty talk she wasn’t hip to. She glanced down at the scooped neckline of her costume and noticed a couple of feathers with the tips broken off. Wise decision not to go with the rental option.
Jax shoved her mask up and stroked her cheek. “Where is this headed, Gabbi?”
She knew he was asking in the most basic of terms. This wasn’t an inquiry beyond the next twenty-four hours. Her heart squeezed at that sad fact, but now that she’d set the wheels in motion there was no way she’d step on the brake.
“Hopefully your bed. Or mine.” She backed up her bold statement by sliding her hand to his fly. The impressive bulge she discovered tenting his tuxedo pants prompted a greedy ache deep in her core. She fondled him shamelessly, her pussy clenching as he surged and thickened in her grasp.
He groaned and shackled her wrist between his fingers, reluctantly easing her off him. “I’ll never get through the rest of the party if you keep doing that.”
“We could have a quickie.”
“Not a fucking chance. I want you naked, those gorgeous tits quivering and your nipples available for my feasting when I ease inside you the first time.”
Well how could she argue with that? She licked her lips. “Then I can have you after the party?”
A slow smile tipped his mouth. “Oh, you’ll get all of me. Maybe more than you can handle.”

REVIEW:

3.75 stars

It's not that I didn't like this story, I did.  I just did not LOVE this story.  This story was great up until the last few chapters.  The adult content was too much for me.  Other than that, this was great read.

Red has always been best friends with the guys.  Mainly because of her brother and his best friend. She always tagged along with them and was considered one of them.  Then as we all we, we grow up but her brother, Brenden, and his best friend, Gavin, help to protect her.  These two know how boys can be and know what some of the boys think of Red.

When Red finally gets a relationship and it ends, her two best boys help her out.  She mopes around but finally agrees to go out again.  But being from a small town, she's bound to run into her ex.  I can understand this situation.  Being from a small town myself, after a break up, the last thing you want to do is be out and see your ex with someone else.  Fortunately for Red, she has a distraction....Gavin.  But things spin out of control and take a turn she never thought would happen.  Red has always had feelings for Gavin but knew to keep them buried deep down.  Is it time to finally open up about how she feels?  Will this ruin her relationship and friendship she has had for so long?  Or should she just keep her feeling buried to ensure she keeps their friendship?

Even though I didn't fall in love with the story.  I am excited to read the next book in the series.  There is a cliffhanger and I can't wait to see what Red decides next.

Review of Asher by Jo Raven

Synopsis: Now eighteen, Audrey returns to her hometown for the first time after the accident – the car crash that took her dad and scarred her for life. She’s here to start again. Go to college and have fun. Make new friends. Get over the past.

But the past won’t let go. Asher is here – her first kiss, her first heartbreak. More handsome and distant than ever, he’s still the boy who used to be her best friend. That was before he changed into someone she hardly knows anymore – the boy who started getting into fights and gave her the cold shoulder for years.

Asher isn’t what she needs. In fact, she hates him and should try her best to keep away from him. Yet her body doesn’t seem to care about how she feels, and maybe, just maybe this time her body got it right. Not that she has much of a choice. Asher draws her like a bright flame, and if she isn’t careful, she’ll burn.

And that may not be such a bad thing after all...

This is New Adult erotic romance, dual POV. Warning: this book contains graphic language, sex, and violence. Mature readers only. Not intended for young adult readers.

3.5 Stars!

Review: Audrey returns to her hometown to attend college, even though it is where she experienced a lot of heartbreak - losing her best friend, Asher, and also another tragedy. She and Asher were friends when they were younger, but he pulled away from her after they kissed. Once she moves back, however, she runs into him pretty quickly, as the group of friends that she becomes a part of also includes him. Nothing has really changed in her heart, and she is still drawn to him. Asher stills gives her the cold shoulder for a while, but they slowly begin to talk again and to have the same connection that they had, as children and teenagers. Audrey begins to see that Asher has deeper secrets than anyone else realized, and she wants to help him realize that he is not alone.

This was a truly heartbreaking story to read because of the experiences that Asher goes through. He has had to be so tough for so many years while others just disregard him or think that they know him, when most of their information is actually wrong. This story does contain abuse, and it also shows what abuse, from someone that is supposed to love you, can do to a person. Asher almost lets himself be defeated by this, and he begins to make some pretty bad choices that continue keeping him in physical pain. Audrey stays with him, however, and keeps encouraging him and trying to help him. Slowly, she shows him that he is better than he thinks, and he can do better than he has been told throughout his whole life.

Overall, I think that this is a tough story to read. Some of the dialogue in this story seems a little stilted, and that takes away from the rest of the book, at times. It's also tough to see this guy that is supposed to be sort of an alpha male truly have this hugely vulnerable side to his life. I think that the characters could be fleshed out a little more. Audrey is difficult to connect to, as she seems a little flat, for some reason. She does fight for Asher, which I did like, but she also just didn't stand out to me much beyond that.

It preys on your mind and it consumes you, consistently reminding you of how your life used to be. Life before cancer. I was a successful business woman, running my own design firm, and was happily married to my college sweetheart. My life seemed perfect. Until it suddenly came crashing down all around me.

So, here I am, in the midst of treatment, incinerating the remnants of my shattered marriage and attempting to piece the rest of my life back together. With three amazing friends pushing me forward, the ‘post-chemo’ finish line is coming into view.

And then . . . there’s him. The man I never anticipated. The one who breathes hope and meaning back into my life. A man who kisses my scars and shows me that I’m beautiful. I never expected him. Hell, I never expected cancer. I’m finally ready to write my future, a future I never planned on, but one that is better than I could’ve ever imagined.

Review:

This book is a continuation of Beneath It All. It is Victoria's journey from sickness, desolation, healing, to loving and being loved again and believing that you deserve that love.  Through a super support group:  Bobbie Jo, Jen, and Dana, Victoria is given a second chance at not only life but love.  Dr. McHottie, her once plastic surgeon, has decided to give up her case to a co-worker to explore their relationship.  I believe that this helps Victoria overcome her ex-husband's infidelity and puts her on a path to love, though not always a smooth path but some bumps in the road with Noah and his lover.  I simply love the fact that Victoria's friends never let her hide away and feel sorry for herself.  They make her face life head-on, face the challenges and overcome them.

In BYB, Victoria battles her self-esteem and tries to get back on the horse of being single all the while still fighting to overcome this beast we call cancer.  Through this journey, Victoria continues to become stronger and stronger and more confident...all with some help from a certain HOTTIE.  Victoria faces her past with Noah and puts their broken relationship to bed while looking forward to a new beginning with Dr. Blake Forrester.  This new relationship is exactly what Victoria needed.  Blake is so caring, compassionate, loving, sweet, smart, and supportive.  He is able to give Victoria exactly what she needed to overcome the disease and the battle she fought in her mind.

This book, although it is fiction, allows you a glimpse into what a cancer victim is going through.  It makes you laugh, it makes you cry.  You go through all the emotions while reading this book.  Tori Madison shows us that even though life may throw us lemons that we don't have to lie down and die...we choose our path and what we make of it.  MAKE LEMONADE and flip your middle finger at cancer!!

5 Stars

Excerpt:

After turning on “Survivor” by Destiny’s Child I got to work on the pancakes. The butter was melting in the glass pie pans in the oven while I whisked the batter and sang along to the song. “After all of the darkness and sadness. Soon comes happiness.” Setting the bowl down on the counter, I danced over to the oven to pull the pans out and continued to shake my ass.

When I turned back around to get the bowl, I noticed Blake leaning against the wall in the doorway watching me with humor dancing in his eyes. “As a child I dreamt of finding Wonder Woman dancing provocatively in my kitchen while making dinner. Guess they’re right when they say, never give up on your dreams.” He smirked as he pushed off the wall. “You look hot. Don’t let me stop you.”

He grabbed a bottle of sparkling water and perched himself on a stool. “What are you making anyway?”

“German pancakes. A friend and I used to make them growing up. They are the perfect mix of sweet and salty with the butter and syrup combo . . . and can make a very sticky mess.”

“A sticky Wonder Woman? Wow. This just keeps getting better.”

I placed the pans back in the oven to bake and put the bowl in the sink to soak. “So Doc McHottie has a thing for Wonder Woman, huh?” I taunted him while wiping my hands on a kitchen towel.

“Doc McHottie has a thing for the Wonder Woman that was dancing in his kitchen a few moments ago.”

Blog Tour: Slow Burn by K. Bromberg

Meet Becks & Haddie in SLOW BURN - the newest stand alone in the
Driven Series by K. Bromberg!

NOW AVAILABLE

 Excerpt
“Yeah. That’s one way to put it. Is there something else you called for besides trying to stick your nose in where it doesn’t belong?”
I open my mouth and then shut it, unsure how calling him because I just needed to hear his voice has devolved so quickly into this. Into me scrambling for words I can’t find to fix shit that doesn’t need fixing.
Because I don’t want this. Don’t want him.
“Well then, if you want to actually talk instead of pull this ridiculous bullshit, I’m here for you…but Had…? Whatever this is here…this passive aggressive crap? I don’t do too well with that. We had our one night. You made it quite clear you didn’t want anything more than that so you don’t get to call me up and question what I might or might not be doing with anybody else. You want no strings? Then cut the ties…but frankly I don’t think you know what the fuck you want so until you figure your shit out, I think it’s best that we say good night before we make a bad situation even worse.”
“Wait!” Desperation rings in my voice in the single word. And I hate myself for sounding like this but I’m so lonely, so scared and just want the comfort I know he can bring me right now.
I wait for the sound of the dial tone to assault my ears. Wait for the incessant beep that reaffirms why I have barbed wire wrapped around my heart – painful but necessary. But there is nothing for a few moments until I hear the phone scrape against the stubble on his face.
And I wait…my throat burning with the tears I want to shed but am so sick of. The ones that no longer bring me comfort.
“I’m here, Haddie. I’m not going anywhere, okay?” The timbre of his voice carries his concern and sympathy to me through the line.
The incoherent sound I make is all I can offer in thank you to him for not hanging up on me. For not giving up on me.
