Review of Surviving Raine by Shay Savage

Synopsis: As the captain of a schooner catering to the elite on the Caribbean Seas, Sebastian Stark does his best to avoid any human encounters. Interacting with people isn’t his thing, and he prefers the company of a bottle of vodka, a shot glass, and maybe a whore. There’s no doubt he’s hiding from a checkered past, but he does well keeping everything to himself…

…until the night his schooner capsizes, and he’s stuck on a life raft with one of the passengers.

Raine’s young, she’s cute, and Bastian would probably be into her if he wasn’t suffering from alcohol withdrawal. As the days pass, DTs, starvation, and dehydration become the norm. Even the most closed person starts to open up when he thinks he’s going to die, but when she realizes their traumatic pasts are connected, it’s no longer the elements that have Bastian concerned.

He has no idea how he’s going to Survive Raine.

5 Stars!

Review:

The thoughts of being stranded on a raft are almost unbearable! The thoughts of being stranded on a raft with a mysterious, cold, detoxing jerk would be enough to make me consider jumping over board!

Sebastian is a lost soul. Abandoned by his birth parents and taken into the system. He never allows himself to develop an emotional connection with anyone. This sad existence develops into a life of violence, alcohol, and hookers. His only true happiness comes from his ship. Raine is mourning the death of her father who was murdered in the line of duty. She was convince by her best friend that she needed to take a vacation to get away from life and relax. Unfortunately, Raine ended up on the ship that Sebastian captain’s. Unfortunate for them both, the boat capsizes.

Surviving a sinking ship, starvation, dehydration, and withdrawals from alcohol, this unlikely couple find themselves in a passionate relationship. A relationship that is based on understanding Sebastian’s tormented past. Can Raine love Sebastian thru all he might put her thru? Can she love him even when his past seems to much for him? Of course she can! Raine’s love for Sebastian runs deep, even after he admits his connection to her fathers death. She loves him for his strength, his remorse, and his dedication to keeping her alive.
