Review of Phenomenal X (Hard Knocks #1) by Michelle A. Valentine

Synopsis: Good Girl. Notorious Bad-Boy. One Phenomenal Love.
From the mean streets of Detroit rises the newest superstar of professional wrestling, Xavier Cold, better known as Phenomenal X. His muscular physique makes men cower before him and women lose their minds with desire.

Anna Cortez is fresh out of college and naive to the harsh realities of the real world. Tired of living under the thumb of her conservative family, she defies them when she accepts a job as the assistant to wrestling’s most notorious bad-boy. Phenomenal X has an animalistic nature that even good girl Anna finds hard to resist.

One night forced to share a bed in a sold-out hotel, lines blur between them and they quickly learn that one lustful night changes everything and neither one of them will ever be the same.

4.5 Stars

Review: I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Anna, the good girl trying to escape her overbearing family and find her own way in life, and Xavier, the bad boy boxer who has fought and clawed his way up from a horrible childhood. Just be aware that this book definitely has a cliffhanger, which I did not realize, as I kind of snapped it up without reading any reviews. I've read a lot of Michele's Rocker books - and LOVED them - so I jumped in.

The story begins when Anna catches Xavier's eye on the plane, as she is leaving Oregon and heading to Detroit. After a little mishap, she is able to sit next to him, and he makes the most of his time and flirts with her. Xavier, who is originally from Detroit, but only visiting for a week, continues pursuing Anna's "friendship", though they both definitely have feelings for one another. Xavier offers Anna a job, which she accepts, as his personal assistant, and Anna travels to Atlanta for a fight.

Atlanta provides a lot of upheaval for these two, as they both have to face some of their past. Then, the story ends as something pretty major happens. I won't provide spoilers on that, but this book will definitely turn the heat up, and it may make you want to throw your kindle on the last page, too. Enjoy!
