Review: As usual, I loved this Mayson man. Cash Mayson runs into Lilly in a coffee shop near her college campus, and they do actually run into one another. Lilly is a little bit of a clumsy one, and when Cash tries to buy her coffee for her, she decides that she is not having that and turns around too quickly. Cash comes out the winner, however, and ends of with Lilly's phone number. My one main complaint about this book happens next - Cash and Lilly start dating, but that part of the book moves quickly and is just sort of described, rather than experienced. Then, suddenly three months have gone by, Lilly has given Cash a pretty big part of herself, and then he ends it. If you've read the end of the previous book, you know why he's ending it, but then it jumps ahead several years to when they both run into one another with little three year olds in tow. I just felt like I had sort of missed out on the beginning of their relationship.
When they meet back up, however, some old questions are explained, though much of the hurt is still there, on Lilly's part. I applaud that. She couldn't deny Cash because she loved him and always had, but she definitely did not make it easy on his part to get back into her heart. What made it difficult for her to keep her walls in place, however, were two little things called Jax and Ashlyn. They wormed each of their way into the other parent's hearts, and then the parents, Lilly and Cash, made it back into one another's hearts. I love the heat that this author brings between her characters, and I love the way that they take care of one another. I mean, the guys THINK that they are taking care of the ladies, but...I think we know who is in charge of these Mayson guys!
The main fly in the ointment for Lilly and Cash is Jax's mom, and Cash's ex, Jules. Ugh. You really begin to feel sorry for Cash having to spend any time with that woman ever, because she is truly evil. She continues to try to get Lilly out of Cash's life because she still sees him as hers. Despite that, Lilly and Cash continue to make it, but some strange things start happening to Lilly. I had my suspicions the whole time about who might be behind them, but it was definitely worth it to see if unfold. One part of this book that I really connected with was Cash's family's reaction to Lilly. With the other books, the Mayson boys and their parents have pretty easily accepted the women that each man chooses. Based on Cash's history, however, they are not as easily accepting of Lilly - which is extremely hurtful for her. That part feels so realistic, however, so I appreciated that aspect. The family does begin to see that Lilly is trustworthy, however, and they slowly come around, which is good because something happens to Cash and Lilly's little family, and they need all the support they can get! Will their love be enough this time around to make it through?
