Excerpt
The telltale crackle of the old vinyl record fills the air as Elvis’s deep smooth
and sensual voice dances in my brain. The song is contagious and I find myself humming along as I walk down the hallway to her room to find her already perched at the seat in front of her vanity. I stand there, unbeknownst to her, watching as she readies herself. She’s wearing her silk dressing gown and for a moment I pretend that she’s not a prostitute. She looks like an average middle-aged woman; her brown eyes and hair a mirror image of mine. But then her robe falls open, revealing her lacy bra and bringing me back to reality. That bra will attract more than one Joe tonight. Countless hours of my life have been spent watching her. Hell, there was even a time where I adored her. I love my Momma, I do, but I can’t understand how she could have allowed me to grow up with all this surrounding my innocence. It doesn’t seem fair, and I can’t help but hate her a little bit for it.There is no handbook to guide the daughter of a hooker, but it didn’t keep me from trying to figure out my messed up mind. In desperation, I had even Googled “How to cope with your mother being a prostitute” before. It ended up being a bunch of psychobabble bullshit, leaving me with nothing but my own thoughts.
As I continue to watch her I feel sadness. There’s so much I’m missing out on. I’m no fool and I know that. I’ve read enough books to know that children aren’t supposed to worry about their moms like I do. Day after day I worry if it’s going to be her last; if this will be the day that she attracts the wrong Joe and he takes her from me; that this might be the day she actually drinks herself to death. All things a girl my age shouldn’t have to think about when it comes to their momma. After a few quiet minutes her familiar eyes meet mine in the mirror and I force a smile, trying to hide my sadness. “Presley, baby girl,” she coos. “Come help me.” Moving on just like nothing happened, but I know she knows. She’s no idiot. She’d ended her night blacked out drunk, even so she knows she didn’t just miraculously wake up in her bed, perfectly cleaned and tucked in.I go to her, and she hands me her favorite pearl necklace. She lifts her long brown hair off the back of her neck before turning and smiling at me. “Did I ever tell you about that necklace?”I nod, but she ignores the fact that I’ve heard the story a million times and starts telling it anyways while I fasten it around her neck, her fingertips running along the smooth pearls. “This necklace was your great-great grandmother’s—” “Who came over to America from Spain.” With a roll of my eyes, I finish the sentence for her. I know the story. At this point, I could probably tell it better than her. The story is one I've heard a million times over. The rich Spanish monarch who cast out his daughter for daring to fall in love with the wrong man. The story of how the two of them fled in the dead of night and snuck aboard a merchant ship headed for American shores to ensure they remained together, for better or worse, was one that would have been romantic . . . had it not ended in him dying of scurvy while they made their journey. Even if some semblance of sweetness could be recovered from the fact that she found herself pregnant with his child, thus enabling her to carry a piece of her one true love throughout her life, it would be dashed by the fact that her great-granddaughter chose to recount the story time and time again, all the while wearing her prized pearls, stolen as a means of currency but something she could never bear to part with, and readying herself for a night of selling herself to the highest bidder. Great-great Grandmother
would be so proud.
Right.

This book is one you definitely want to add to you TBR list...

Working Girl is a sort of modern day "coming of age" story to be - with family dynamics, friendships, relationships, and enough twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat! Working Girl brings out a host of emotions...you'll find yourself laughing at times and other times your heart will be torn into shreds. That is the epitome of a good book for me - one that can make me feel a whole range of emotions and keep me wanting and yearning for more. Working Girl was just that book for me.

Presley Adams grew up the daughter of a prostitute. She always told herself she would make something of herself and not follow into her mother’s footsteps. Presley enrolled in college and always stuck to herself until that one day when she met Emerson Williams. She wasn’t looking for a new friend or boyfriend. Emerson had this feeling in his gut that Presley needed him. As much as she pushed him away he never left her side. She was scared to let him in.

Emerson Williams, he had the looks, friends and money. He could have any girl he wanted but he chose Presley. She wasn’t the friendliest person to be around but that didn’t stop Emerson. He slowly chiseled away at her wall until there was a crack in it that slowly began to crumble and gave way.  He too was holding onto his past. He had to deal with a father who was mentally unstable and an event that happened to him when he was a teenager. However, he had the support and love of his mother.

With this book, you will experience such a tender, fragile love. As Emerson slowly breaks down Presely’s walls, its amazing to see her finally embrace love and start to feel worthy. You will have moments you want to scream at her for being so stupid, and moments you will cry for her and all she has endured. And then...just when things all start to come together - it happens. The biggest twist, the biggest shock, the biggest holy fuck moment that will shatter your world. The questions is - will it shatter Presley and Emerson’s?

I'm going to stop there and leave you with those thoughts...want to know more...I guess you will have to read the book then...I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Enchanted and Desired is one Scorching Hot emotionally charged story. It is the second book from the Enchanted Series and once again from the very first sentence to the very last word I was hooked. It was SEXY, EROTIC, EMOTIONAL, WITTY and BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN.

In the book you are introduced to Jess and Simon.  Jess has a past that has totally made her uninterested in a relationship. She built walls to keep her heart safe, only allowing herself to have "hook-ups" and nothing else, no emotional connection.  This has been relatively easy until Simon.  At first it's all about the lust. They have amazing chemistry together and out of the world orgasms. Both agree that this is the best sex of their lives.  Jess can't fight the attraction so she does the one thing she can do. She runs. She pushes Simon away and does in a way that makes him believe there isn't any point in going after her.
I found that Simon was near perfect. His only problems were brought about in direct reflection of Jess's stubbornness and actions that hurt him so badly.

I believe both characters demonstrated emotional growth in this book; Simon, more than Jess. I enjoyed the way the book ended. While not all love stories can be a fairy tale with a happily ever after, some are a journey that has a broken and tattered road that leads two souls together. While they are fighting to build a bridge..they stumble and fall, only to get back up and try again. I believe this is the road to life. This is what is portrayed in this book.

Blog Tour & Review for Tessa's Temptation by Ella Jade

Tessa's Temptation

by Ella Jade

Genre: Romance

Cover Design: N K Author Services

Tour Organizer: N K Author Services

What happens when the siren becomes the tempted?

College student Tess Burke is on the verge of eviction. Her life changed when her dad was in a bad car accident. He’s been in the hospital for months and making little progress. Desperation is setting in. They’re about to lose everything.

Successful architect Chase Carlisle has made a name for himself among the rich and famous. His work keeps him busy, leaving little time for a social life. When an old family friend contacts him and asks him to care for his vibrant, sassy daughter, Chase feels obligated to take her in; Patrick Burke had helped him when he was a troubled teenager, heading down a path of destruction. If not for Pat, Chase would have never become the man he is today.

The wild child turns Chase’s world upside down, tempting him in ways he can’t resist. The sexy younger woman shows him what he’s been missing the past few years. Their attraction is obvious from the beginning despite Chase’s apprehension to getting involved with Pat’s daughter. Tess wears him down but gets caught in her own trap when she becomes the object of his deepest, darkest desires.

Warning: once you get started reading you WILL NOT want to put it down…

Tessa is in a bad place. Her dad is in the hospital recovering, she’s a full time student and she’s about to be evicted from her apartment. One person from her past, one she doesn’t even remember, can turn her entire world on its head.

Chase has known Tessa’s dad for a long time. The man once helped him out of a bad time in his life. When asked to take care of the man’s daughter, he doesn’t hesitate to pay back the debt he feels he owes. Chase seems to have it all… money, his own company, and his own house.

The sexual tension between the two escalates quickly. They are attracted to each other, although neither act on it right off the bat. Tessa decides she is going to for the man she wants and she holds nothing back. She flirts, teases, and even tries to make him jealous. Little does she know, it’s working…

I really liked the fact that these characters seemed real to me. They were scared of their feelings and what others will think. It showed that once you set your eyes on a target – and go after what you want – things are not always perfect. Life is not all rainbows and butterflies and bad things happen, but we can overcome them and still get our happily ever after.

The characters have to learn to meld their lives together in a way that works for them. I loved how they grew with each other and decided that, even though they grew up differently, they liked each other enough to compromise. They were easy to relate to with their journey and struggles. Even if there are some parts that most of us will never face, they stayed true to themselves and did what they needed to do to get back to each other.

Ella Jade has been writing for as long as she can remember. As a child, she often had a notebook and pen with her, and now as an adult, the laptop is never far. The plots and dialogue have always played out in her head, but she never knew what to do with them. That all changed when she discovered the eBook industry. She started penning novels at a rapid pace and now she can't be stopped.
Ella resides in New Jersey with her husband and two young boys. When she's not chasing after her kids, she's busy writing, attending PTO meetings, kickboxing, and scrapbooking. She hopes you'll get lost in her words.

**** 4.5 ****

This is pure, hot action, from the very first chapter to the stunning conclusion. Jaret Paxon, who you'd remember from the series as Hunter's close friend, gang member & drug dealer, has found other ways to mess up his life. The fact is, he just don't care about anything or anyone. That is until he accidentally finds "her" at a strip club's masquerade night. And he is shocked to see that she works there! She recognized him too and runs away from him. He isn't gona let her get away again but when he finds out what is really going on and what he needs to do, he knows without a doubt that he would do anything, pay any price....he will never let her go again.....even if it kills him.
The scene in the bath tub is so erotic and hot, that I had no doubt that Lin was going to be his redemption. And the trips back through their past when they were growing up and falling in love despite the different stations they came from was both sweet and sad. These scenes go a long way in the development of their characters. I went from seeing Jaret as a cad, to understanding how his life spiraled out of control until he just didn't feel or care about anything.
And Lin, well, she got her self into a deplorable situation by trying to make her parents proud. It surely back fired, leaving her with no hope and no help in site.....until Jaret finds her. Now the only question is, Are they going to survive long enough to have a life together?

Review by: Lynn
***** 5 Stars

This was the first book I have ever read by Carey Heywood. This story is beautiful, very well written and seamless. The story of Ally and then Cameron touches that place in my heart that evokes humanity, compassion, love....connections. I can't wait to get my hands on more of your books and learn more about your other characters. I love reading authors who are new to me and discovering my love for their writing and their stories. Better happens to be one of those that was extremely easy to fall in love with.

Better is a story of self discovery and recovering and coping from a devastating lost, of finally saying your last goodbye to someone you loved and will always have close to your heart. This story is also about finding love in a place you last expected to find love. It is also about love finding you especially when you weren't looking for love. This book is definitely very inspirational and will teach you a very important lesson about the meaning of life.

The heroine Aubrey is dealing with the recent loss of her aunt, whom she was extremely close too. While Aubrey is coping with her loss she finds out that her aunt left her money from her life insurance and with this money she must go an experience life. She must travel the world and find her self once and for all. Aubrey's parents even though are happy with Aubrey's decision to go and accomplish her aunts dying wish they don't like the fact that Aubrey will be traveling the world by her self , so her father has an idea and decides to fund a ticket for Adam, Adam is a photographer who has traveled a lot through out his own life and can serve has a guide and keep Aubrey from trouble.

Aubrey and Adam were such great characters and perfect for each other even though they started at the wrong foot. While Adam thought Aubrey was a spoiled brat and Aubrey thought Adam was an ass you can definitely see their wasn't no insta-love connection in the beginning. They were attracted to each other physically ,but emotionally they thought they were horrible together. But through there travels around the world you start seeing the two finally opening up to one another and becoming friends. Adam is quite protective of Aubrey which drives her crazy because she hates feeling like a child ,but Aubrey soon realizes why Adam is the way he is. The friendship blossoms towards something more and something real. It was amazing to see the transitions from perfect strangers to friends , then to lovers.

Aubrey grew a lot through her journey of self discovery. Gone was the broken girl that didn't know where to go or how to begin her life. Gone was the girl that never fell in love and gone was the girl who was indecisive,  gone was the girl that was lost and because of Adam and her aunt the true Aubrey was finally found. Aubrey grew up and became the woman she was meant to be.

I give this book 5 inspirational and emotional stars. This book was so amazing and I recommend everyone to experience this amazing story of courage , bravery, love, grieve, lost, inspiration, acceptance and most importantly self discovery. This book will keep you on your toes your imagination will run wild with all the places Aubrey travels and your heart will break every time Aubrey says good bye to her aunt. Your heart will finally soar as well when Adam and Aubrey finally find love and accept each other for who they are. This book is a must read. Keep your tissues handing you will definitely need them.

*****
5 Shut The Front Door Stars

This is the follow up book to Chained by SK Fordham and it takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotion...romance, drama, humor, suspense...you name it and you felt it.  This book picks right up where the first one concluded with that cliffhanger.   The story follows Stella's abduction and Dean's attempts at trying to find her. Once she is found she needs to figure out what her feelings are for Dean and what the future holds.

Dean is very HOT and perfect! All the girls want him, maybe even men... Dean is just a toxic person, seems people are willing to kill for him! And the first part of this book is a pin and needles intense heart ripping situation. I couldn't imagine being in the situation that Stella was in.

This is an emotional overload ride! You won't want to miss out on this great story. I am in love with the way S.K. brings her characters to life, as well as her writing style. She brings her characters to life and is very realistic! She knows how to make her readers weep, laugh, shout, and just down right ugly cry!  Bravo... Excellent story and characters!!! Looking forward to more from this amazing author!!
